The wind speed here on the Mersey today was over 25 knots. The team on the replica Viking warship, Draken Harald Hårfagre, had said anything over 20 knots would mean calling off their departure for 24 hours. She had been schediuled to go at midday.

She will now depart tomorrow, 4th August – off the berth at Liverpool Victoria Rowing Club at 15:00 and locking out at 16:00 and off to Peel in the Isle of Man.

They were training up the new sprogs on the dock today, rowing in the wind, being pushed left right and Charley by the wind.

All equipment on board  is now fully functional – including the missing radar scanner.

They say they’ll deploy the sail as they depart – and if they do, it will be the first time anyone in the UK will have seen it. She dismasted south of Shetland on her way over from Norway.
